If you’re dissatisfied with or embarrassed of your smile due to stained or uneven teeth, porcelain veneers may be a great option for you! Veneers can improve the shape, color, size, length, and position of your teeth—completely transforming your smile!
What are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin porcelain shells that are placed over the front surfaces of your teeth to correct a variety of dental issues. Veneers can address conditions such as chipped, stained, or crooked teeth, as well as uneven spacing between the teeth.
At Schultz Family Dental, we work with some of the best ceramists in Georgia to create porcelain veneers that are both beautiful and life-like. To achieve this result, Dr. Schultz takes the time to discuss your smile goals prior to beginning treatment. A thorough exam, digital photographs, and an evaluation of facial symmetry allow us to make the best choices for the shape and color of your teeth, and we are even able to show you what your veneers will look like once treatment is complete!

Am I a Good Candidate for Porcelain Veneers?
As with any other dental procedure, it’s important that patients consult with Dr. Schultz before receiving veneers, to ensure that these restorations are their best option for cosmetic treatment. For example, veneers may not be the best option for patients who grind or clench their teeth, as they may break under pressure. Also, patients must have healthy teeth and gums in order to have veneers placed—any disease or decay must be treated prior to veneer treatment.
The Procedure
Placing porcelain veneers are commonly done over a series of treatments. First, photographs of your teeth will be taken and a comprehensive smile analysis will be completed to discuss your individual smile goals. Then, preliminary impressions of your teeth will be taken so that our ceramist can use wax to start designing your veneers. The wax-up will then be shown to you, so that we can make any changes to the size or shape of the veneers prior to beginning treatment.
From there, your teeth will be minimally prepared, and the wax-up will be transferred to your mouth to make any changes to your veneers, if needed. A final impression of your teeth will be taken, and we’ll make you temporary veneers to wear, while your custom veneers are being created. Your veneers are then fit to the teeth, assessed for esthetic form and function, and cemented into place. A follow-up visit will be scheduled to assess the health of your gum tissue and to ensure that there are no complications. Final photos can then be taken, so you can see your amazing smile transformation!
Caring for Your Porcelain Veneers
After receiving porcelain veneers, there are some steps that patients should take to prolong the life of their new restorations. Veneers can break under pressure, so avoid chewing on hard objects. Teeth aren’t tools—please use some scissors! Also, it’s important to keep your teeth clean by following a daily oral health routine. Cavities can still form under and around veneers, so a hygiene schedule and appointments for cleanings are a must, to maintain your new smile!
